What tools or skills has Hermanos Unidos given you that have helped after graduation?

Hermanos has given me the ability to develop effective leadership, social networking, public speaking, and time management skills. Hermanos has also given me the opportunity to volunteer and give back to the Santa Cruz community. Through Hermanos, I have been able to establish connections with other professionals in Santa Cruz County that have benefited me in gaining  employment opportunities.

How have you continued to follow the ideas of El Nuevo Hombre outside of the space?

Through El Nuevo Hombre, I have gained a foundation on what it means to have confianza and a good heart (yolo cualli). El nuevo hombre has taught me to always strive to be a better man and father. I always strive to be a role model example of El nuevo hombre by treating others with hermandad y respeto. The most important thing that El nuevo hombre has showed me is to search for my cultural identity. I thank the the ideologies of El nuevo hombre, because it has pushed me to learn more about my cultural identity through indigenous teachings that have taught me who I really am.

One tip you would give to current members?

Hermanos is not a phase, but a life style. Always strive to become the ideal Hermano and nunca faltes tu palabra con tus hermanos. Remember early is on time and on time is late.

What tools or skills has Hermanos Unidos given you that have helped after graduation?
- Developing networks and understanding the necessity of creating them

- Facilitating workshops, in other words, public speaking

- Continuously developing professionally

- Self-reflection in terms of other’s constructive criticism

How have you continued to follow the ideas of El Nuevo Hombre outside of the space?

- I still look to have conversations where I critically analyze stereotypical views of Latino men to create solutions. And that always begins with myself in how I think, speak and act. If have the chance to have dialogues about the problems we all face on a daily basis.

One tip you would give to current members?

- Do not let 4 years pass you by and you have nothing to show for it. There are many resources you have on campus from faculty to staff and they are willing to help in any way. Do not be afraid to ask questions. Have confidence in your abilities and the unique perspective you have. If you are planning on graduate school then
